Well, it's Monday and it's Thanksgiving week and I'm searching for things to give thanks for:
1) Jim is feeling well.
2) Theresa (oldest daughter) is moving into her new house this w-e, which is good, but that means she won't be home for the holiday.
3) Julie (youngest daughter) is still working and her car is running.
4) Tom (only son) has just bagged his second deer.
For these items above I am thankful.
Now to get on to the non-thankful things.
I have a bathroom that I hate. I have a house that I almost hate.
I hate the kitchen, it has no counters, and I can't believe that when my DH and his ex put up the house, she had any sayso in the kitchen. It's ugly, brown floor, brown cabinets, formica counters where there is a counter, and a sink that needs to be changed. BUT, you'd think that things were just put in last week instead of almost 40 years ago. When Jim put the house up, he put things in that he knew would last, and last they did - and I can't kill anything.
SO, on to the bathroom, the floor is the same pattern as the kitchen, except it's in white. Now why in God's name would people put in a bathroom floor that is white with 3 kids tramping in and out? Beats me - I wouldn't do it. AND on top of everything else, it has a pattern that has ups and downs in it. SO, there I was yesterday on my hands and knees cleaning out the downs in the floor. I am so stupid at times, my back just got better, and there I was, cleaning the floor on all fours.
On a different note, I finished up my ornament for the Prairie Schooler exchange and if I can figure out how to do it, will send a pic of it at the end of the week. I want to wait until my partner gets it and has a chance to either 'yeah' or 'nay' it. LOL
I haven't been stitching much, too many other things to do.
We are having a very untraditional turkey day this year - no big bird - my Mom is probably moving around in her cremation urn because there's not a 30 pounder in my stove. BUT with only 5 people to cook for, why bother. I remember Mom getting up in the middle of the night to put the 30 lb bird in - nope, can't do that. SO, we are having turkey breasts instead, and for Milly (my SIL) who likes dark meat, I am cooking two turkey legs.
BUT I do have lots to be thankful for. My grandchildren are all well and doing great in school, they are well adjusted, and are good kids. My children are all good as are their partners.
Jim is doing as well as he has been for the past year - he is cancer free.
All in all, a lot to be thankful for.

Happy Saturday
I am pain free - finally - was off of work all this week due to a back problem - zigged instead of zagged, so to speak and had to be out of work. Not that I mind being out of work, but when you don't feel well, it's terrible. Had to take Flexeril for the spasms and Vicodin for the pain, but the two of them made me loopier than usual and put me to sleep, so not a lot accomplished this week. Anyway, the pain is gone, hurrah.
Have worked on Spencer's stocking but it's such a slow go at the bottom of the stocking. I'm almost finished with that and once I get into the main body of the stocking, it'll be fine. Hopefully that will happen either today or Monday. Tomorrow I go and give my first 'live' Tastefully Simple party, www.tastefullysimple.com and while I've had orders go in for book parties, going and showing the products is second to none. Such good products.
Not much else doing here, quiet this morning, Jim is still in bed. We do have to drive down to the cottage again today, forgot Jim's medications and his glucometer last week when we closed it. SO, off to spend another $30.00 in gas to go and get the items. BUT it's a nice day today and with the sun shining and it being crisp outside, it'll be nice. The car is nice and warm and I don't mind driving at all.
I went to the nicest little gift shop yesterday, called The Enchanted Rose, and they had the nicest things there that you wouldn't fine anywhere else. Got a couple of presents, and for a couple of people, they are done for Christmas. Had lunch with Jeanne and she met Julie and I there to do a bit of shopping too. Have to order some other things on line, and go to the mall at least once for getting in the Christmas mood.
We have a couple of new Lizzies join this week - welcome to Sue and to Stacy - and hope they find the Lizzie group to be happy and helpful. Stacy had been a member a while back but had to leave because of family. I know this feeling, and it isn't fun.
I guess that's it for now - will write hopefully tomorrow - and will post a picture if I can figure out how to do it of the stockings and their non-completion.

Sunday, Sunday
Hello again, another Sunday, and nothing much to report, but then again, once I get going, maybe something will come of it.
I guess I do have some good news to report. My daughter #1 had hurt her hand at a job she had about a year ago, and hasn't really been able to work at a job that is repetitious. Recently she took a job that required her to use her hand and it was just too hurtful for her to do. So, she had to quit her job even though it was one that was paying her benefits, and she decided to call the insurance company and ask for a settlement. To her surprise and mine, they are paying her very well - and hopefully now she'll be able to get some kind of job that will limit the amount of movement of her hand. She won't have to take just any kind of job, she'll have time to look around and get something that she'll be able to stick to.
On another note, my baby turned 34 yesterday - where do the years go? She is a wonderful girl most of the time, LOL. The others are 41 and almost 39, and it seems like yesterday that they were babies and they actually needed me.
I've been doing lots of stitching, and it really feels good to have some finishes. Stitched two bands that I'm going to make into pillows for DD#1 and DIL and have to finish up two stockings for the smallest grandchildren - both boys - one is finished and ready to be made into an actual stocking and the other is in progress with the stitching. I've also got 7 ornaments stitched and ready to be finished. The other is an ornament that I signed up to do for the Prairie Village group - it's turning out very nice. I've got such a wonderful idea for finishing it, just have to pay attention to what I'm doing with it.
Since no one will be here for T'giving or Christmas, it's going to be very quiet around here for the Holidays, just Jim and I most of the time, and Julie is in and out a lot. I'll have to rely on friends for companionship during the holidays. Most of them are going to be around, and we can get together for stitching and chatting.
Was going to NYC in early December, but this might be put off for a bit, have to call my sister Lee tonight or tomorrow and find out what's going on. She wants me to see everything that NY has to offer. I called her today and she now has a Wegman's supermarket not too far from her, and she's loving it, goes all the time to see what's new.
I went and had coffee with a friend today, got rid of a lot of stitching items that she had ordered, so I am flush again with money, LOL. Bid on a couple of items from ebay, but lost both of them, will try again or just go to the store and purchase what I want. Makes me mad that I lose track of what time the items are going off and then don't win them. Oh well, so be it. If it was meant to be, they'd be mine.
Enough for today, back to laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, etc. Will write again later.

Sunday (I think)
Good morning all. It is morning I think. Sunday morning, at almost 4:30 a.m. What am I doing up so early, you say. Well, the dog sleeps on the bed, the other dog sleeps on the bed, Jim's dialysis pump goes off early in the morning (as he's too tired to sleep on his side for the drains), and I have to get up and get the cats out of the bedroom. That's why I'm up at 4:30 a.m.
Anyway, things here are hectic. I have decided NOT to do the typing job as I was afraid that if I started doing a job that the lady says is about 2 hours a night, it will turn in to an overnight and I really can't do that. I have started another job with Tastefully Simple, and that is doing wonderful. The items sell themselves, and they are delicious. SO, if anyone needs/wants/can't live without something, please let me know.
I have also had a lot of requests for the Breast Cancer Awareness chart that Barb has designed. One gal has already sent her finished picture for all to see, and that will be posted on the website. I had no idea that 'free' items got so many requests.
I have also been working very hard on the stockings for Christmas for Spencer and Jackson. Jackson's is already done, but Spencer's is the one I'm working on. It's a slow go, but it'll be finished and ready for Santa to fill this year.
Other than that, things are quite the same. Nothing new around here to report - getting ready to close the cottage and that's sad for me - only been there about 3 times this summer. We'll be going down probably the last w-e this month to do that. Doesn't take but a couple of hours to do, but it's still something else to add to my busy schedule.
I guess that's about it for now - can't think of anything else at this point in the morning, so will close now and maybe do some other lamenting later on today.

Thursday's Children
Good morning to all - can't believe it's been almost a full month since my putting anything into words. I guess my life is so mundane, can't think of anything new.
I have been working, working, working - between the school bus driving, and cleaning house, have been stitching quite a bit - that is my sanity. I love to just sit down even for a few minutes and pick up a needle and get going. Unfortunately, I think I have ADD or something like that as after about 15 minutes I have to get up and go and do something else, and then I'm back to stitching.
I have taken on another job, it's going to be typing at night working for a laboratory typing gross pathology reports. I won't start probably until next week. I also have become a Tastefully Simple consultant. I love their products, believe in them wholeheartedly, and since I like to eat (and anyone who knows me knows this), this is a great way for me to make some new things for the family. No one likes to eat grilled cheese once a week, at least I don't.
I think I am going to take on another job, but it's related to stitching. I am going to see about finishing up some items for other people. Have done this in the past when I had the brick and mortar store and it worked out pretty well. So far the only items I've finished off are mine and my daughter Theresa's, so would be good to see some other people's stitching.
Nothing new in the way of Jim - he's doing great - and for this I am truly grateful. I don't know what would happen if he were to get sick again - I know that we'd take it one day at a time like we did before, but it'd be rough. Watching someone get sicker and sicker is not fun for anyone.
My kids on the school bus have been so funny. As many of you know, the children I take to school all have some sort of disability. One of my guys who is in middle school likens himself to an FBI agent, and what's so funny is that he truly believes it. He came out of his house yesterday and announced "So, you don't think I am FBI - right?" I said OK Jon - show me your badge, and he pulled out a piece of paper that said FBI on it - and that was his ID tag. Too funny, they keep me in stitches most of the time with their goings on and every day I am so happy that my little people (children/grandchildren) are all well and having normal lives. Theresa and her new beau John will be coming from NC for Thanksgiving with the kids. I can't wait. It seems so long since I've seen them, and they grow so fast. It's hard to keep up with what their life is doing.
Well, I guess that's about it - have sat for more than usual - LOL
Will write later. Have wonderful days.

It's Monday and I thought today was Sunday
Ah well, that's my life in a nutshell. Never knowing what day it is. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night almost in a sweat, not knowing what day it is. Now for some, that's fine, but I have this thing about knowing what day it is, what the date is, and where I am. Jim and I went to the lake this past Friday - and I woke up on Saturday morning not knowing where I was. DUH - it was me who wanted to go.
Today I thought it was Sunday all day, even though I went to a lovely picnic yesterday and I knew it was Sunday. It wasn't until the TV came on this afternoon and Oprah was on that I realized that today wasn't Sunday, but Monday. Since I have to start working again on Wednesday, maybe this is my way of telling myself that I don't want to go back to work, which is very far from the truth. I am one of those people who likes to work, and take on the challenges that every day brings taking kids back and forth to school, and since I drive the special needs children, this too is a challenge.
I have been stitching Quackworth Sampler from Ink Circles and loving every stitch of it. I am doing it with Wildflowers floss in the Spice color and it's amazing how much is done already. I started it on either Monday or Tuesday of last week and I'm already almost half finished. I can't believe that it has held my attention this long.
Julie leaves for SC on Wednesday - she'll be gone for a week and a half, so this means I'll be having to stay home at night with Jim unless I can get him to go out with me if I do indeed need to go out. I'll probably be so tired that I'll stay in too.
Nothing much else to chat about - will post again in a few days.

Thursday, Thursday
Good early afternoon - have been busy doing laundry, doing dishes, and waiting for the mailman, to no avail. I was hoping that he was going to bring me some new items for the shop, but not today, so will wait until tomorrow.
Tomorrow is a busy day too - I have to go and pick up the packet for bid day on Tuesday - this means that I'll get a chance to bid on the bus run that I'd like to have. It doesn't always work out, but hopefully tomorrow no one else will want the run I had last year. It worked out great - time off in the middle of the runs so that if Jim had an MD appointment, I could take him, or if I just wanted to go to lunch with one of the gals I could.
I am so looking forward to going back to work - the tedium of being home is killing me - I just don't know how other people stay home all the time. Every time I think I have to go and get something, my sensible voice says to stay home, get something else done, why waste the gas. I'd like to throw that voice out the window and just go and do what I want without having to pay the consequences for it. I do have to go out today and get some new speakers and a new pair of headphones for the computer. I am going to start working from home in the evenings when school starts and instead of having the bulky headphones from long ago, Ms. Jeanne tells me that I can use something like the iPOD earphones. How great is that??????
Have been working on Trix or Treat from Blackbird Designs - should have it finished by the w-e so that I can banner it. I bought some cool material from the local quilt shop for it and I know it's going to be great.
